    Follow these easy steps to have your device repaired:

    1. Request an RMA

    You MUST include an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) with your repair. Choose one of the following options to get an RMA:

    Option 1: At the top of this page you will see a "Forms" tab, please complete and submit the RMA request form.

    Option 2: Phone request - Call us at +1 (386) 943-9333 between 7:30am and 5:00pm Eastern Time (GMT -05:00), Monday through Thursday

    2. Packaging instructions: Please pack your device securely. Altimeters have fallen out of unpadded envelopes and other unsecured packages on their way to us! Include padding on all sides so the altimeter is not damaged during transit. Bubble wrap and/or packing peanuts work well. Include a copy your RMA inside the package, and be sure to keep a copy for your records. Use a trusted shipper: we are not responsible for packages lost in the mail or packages that do not reach us for any reason.

    When we receive your altimeter (Main Repair Facility only), we will send you an e-mail confirmation.

    Please allow up to 6 weeks for the repair to be completed. Basic mechanical repair cost is $71 and includes repair, cleaning, calibration, & chamber test. Non-warranty N3 and N3Audio repairs are $113.

    Shipping and/or bank fees are additional. See our shipping policies for information on how we will return your Altimeter to you.

    Alti-2, Inc. will repair or replace any defective Altimaster Altimeter which was manufactured by Alti-2, Inc. for a period of TWO years from the date of manufacture, subject to the following conditions:

    • Applies to Altimaster Altimeters manufactured by Alti-2, Inc. ONLY
    • The warranty only applies to the ORIGINAL owner of the altimeter and is not transferable.
    • The Warranty does NOT apply to use of Altimeters by commercial organizations unless specifically and individually agreed to the contrary (e.g. DZ Altimeter Program).
    • The colors of altimeters will vary slightly with each manufacturing batch, aging and exposure to sunlight will also cause the color to change over time. Alti-2, Inc. therefore cannot and does not guarantee the color of your instrument.
    • For repair or replacement of an altimeter, which is the exclusive remedy available from Alti-2, Inc., the original Buyer shall at his cost ship this item to Alti-2, Inc. for repair or replacement of the item at Alti-2's option and return it with prepaid freight.
    • Alti-2 warranty DOES NOT apply to any product which has been subjected to alteration, improper installation, immersion in water, misuse, willful damage, opening case, or any other form of neglect.

    Alti-2, Inc.warranty is LIMITED STRICTLY to the terms indicated herein, and no other expressed warranties or remedies thereunder shall be binding on us.

    TO THE EXTENT CONSISTENT WITH STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS: (1) ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE SAME TIME PERIODS STATED HEREIN FOR ALTI-2, INC. EXPRESSED WARRANTIES, (2) ALTI-2, INC. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES UNDER ANY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES RELATING TO PRODUCT.

    Alti-2 products and services are subject to constant review and change, we reserve the right to change product specifications and terms and conditions of warranty without prior notice.

    Background

    SSE, Inc., the original company that designed the Altimaster Altimeter ceased trading in July 1999 after almost 50 years of service to our sport. Alti-2, Inc. purchased the manufacturing rights for the Altimaster II and Altimaster III in July 1999 and has been striving to keep past, present and future Altimaster altimeter owners satisfied.

    Under SSE's lifetime warranty it stated, among other things, that the lifetime warranty applied to the original owner only, was non transferable, and the lifetime warranty card had to be filled out and sent back to SSE within 15 days of purchase. This program of SSE's started approximately 1993. At that time SSE offered all owners of Altimaster Altimeters purchased previously the chance to take advantage of their lifetime warranty by sending in $5 and required information.

    Alti-2 was given a copy of the SSE warranty data base and will be happy to check if your warranty card was sent in. Please email us your full name, model number, and serial number of your Altimaster. Alti-2 has been striving to keep up the excellent name of Altimaster by choosing to honor the SSE lifetime warranty on a case-by-case basis. Alti-2 is under no obligation to cover any of SSE's warranties but has willingly chosen to do so at this time. FYI: We say case-by-case basis because if the altimeter is deemed non-repairable (repairs exceed half the cost of a new altimeter) and the individual had sent in their SSE lifetime warranty card we will NOT replace the unit.

    SSE Altimaster III's with a plastic outer case

    Older model Altimaster IIIs with plastic frames are not interchangeable with the newer aluminum frames. To change a plastic frame to aluminum would also require a new back plate, case, faceplate, needle, lens, O-ring assembly, wrist strap, six screws, and wave spring.

    One production batch of Altimaster IIIs produced by SSE are susceptible to cracking (due to a flaw in the molding process). Getting a new injection mold made is cost prohibitive. Since Alti-2, Inc. no longer has any plastic frames that were acquired from SSE we are unable to repair this frame configuration.

    SSE Altimaster IIIs with "moving dial"

    The original Altimaster III was designed so that you rotated the dial to set the altitude to zero, (on modern units the pointer moves and the dial face is locked in place). Most of these instruments are 20 years old and are "beyond economical repair". If your instrument has sentimental value, please send it to us and we will quote you a price for repair, please understand that the cost of repair is likely to be a significant portion of the cost of a new Galaxy.

    Altimaster V

    The Altimaster V was originally designed by SSE to be a low cost entry level instrument, it was not designed to be repaired. This model had been discontinued long before Alti-2 acquired the Altimaster range. For these reasons we are unable to offer any warranty coverage for this model.
